Around 2am this morning Bekah woke me up to tell me Pumpkin Pi was finally kidding. By the time I made it to the barn the big white boy was already getting cleaned up.
I stood back and watched my 11 year old daughter complete the kidding and finally sent her to bed around 3am when things were pretty much over.
The doeling, named Gretchen Wilson, is a very colorful little girl with lots of spunk. She was the first to figure out nursing, and by the time she was 2 hrs old she was trying to jump. She will be staying here on the ranch. Her brother, who has been nicknamed Lynch after Marshawn Lynch, will be available as a wether when weaned. Both of them have blue eyes.
In other news, on the 25th Even kidded with triplets out of Midnight. One beautiful doe and 2 handsome buck kids. I sold Eve this spring with a doe kid back so pretty miss Emmylou Harris will be coming here as a bottle baby this Friday. She the first doe out of Midnight carrying our herd name and we are very excited to see her.
Like the kids born in April Miriam's two boys will be going to visit the Veterans Home on Friday morning to honor the many requests to see more baby goats.
Shortly after 4pm this afternoon Miriam kidded with twin blue-eyed boys out of Finnius. Much better kidding than last year as she only needed minimal assistance. Dam and kids are all doing well. The lighter colored boy was born first and he is more colorful than he appears in the bright afternoon sun.
We are looking forward to watching these two handsome guys grow and sharing them with the Veterans and staff at the Oregon Veterans Home.
