Welcome to Wags Ranch!
We are located on the northeastern edge of the Palouse region just east of Moscow, ID and have been raising Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats since 2007. We are constantly striving to improve our herd specifically and the breed in general. We were blessed to have amazing mentors from the moment we bought our first does, including one who was a judge and on the committee that wrote the breed standard. For years we participated in an informal Linear Appraisal (LA) with this retired judge.
In 2019 after moving to Idaho we signed up for ADGA Plus but were waitlisted for Linear Appraisal. We went ahead with the milk testing portion and all the does easily earned their. Due to issues with ADGA we did not do milk test in 2022, however we did finally get our first formal linear appraisal completed. The highlight of it was Wags Ranch Incredible Violet scoring a VEEE90 despite being 10 weeks post partum with a retained kid.
We will be going back to milk testing in 2023, and this portion of the region will be see Linear Appraisers return in 2024.
We use WADDL biosecurity screening and our herd last tested clean in January 2022.
